Felipe Bernal Guarin

Felipe Bernal is a strategic advisor in corporate strategy and public policy, passionate about industrial decarbonization. He currently serves as advisor on Energy Policy and International Affairs to Presidential Candidates in Colombia. He is a Global Energy Fellow at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) and a member of the Global Expert Community of the World Energy Council (WEC).
With over 15 years of experience at the intersection of corporate strategy, public policy and diplomacy, Felipe has advised governments, multilateral organizations, and the private sector on industrial policy, investment/financing strategies, and market development. He is the technical leader behind Colombia’s Hydrogen Economy and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) draft bills, currently under discussion in Congress, shaping the competitiveness and regulatory framework for clean energy markets.
Previously, he served as Country & Regional Manager for LATAM at Hinicio, where he led projects that earned the Best Consulting H2 Services award in the LAC region. He also worked as a Manager at PwC Strategy& as Manager for the Strategy, Markets and Growth Line of Service. Most recently, Felipe has collaborated with UNDESA on impact finance and capital mobilization for SDG financing in Emerging Economies and Frontier Markets.
An experienced speaker on energy transition, geopolitics, critical minerals, and climate change, he has contributed to high-level discussions as SME and former Board Member of national energy associations, and as a lead author at the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Felipe holds an MPA in Global Leadership from Columbia University (SIPA) and an MBA from Navarra Business School. Constantly committed to youth leadership, Felipe has served as a mentor for the Eisenhower Fellowships, YLAI Fellows and the We Are Family Foundation GTLs.
